2006 Baseball Season
January 6, 2006
President's message: Chilliwack Minor Baseball Association was established in the 1940's as a service to the Youth of Chilliwack. During it's 65 year service to the community, baseball has continued to prepare the youth of Chilliwack for their future careers by instilling leadership qualities, a strong sense of teamwork and also ensuring youth build a strong sense of self-confidence. Since it's inception, it had provided youth the opportunity to create lifelong friendships and foster sportsmanship in a team environment. Baseball has also provided youth with opportunities to develop mentoring skills such as role modeling younger teams (umpiring program), individual skill development clinics, team building clinics and also advanced all-star clinics. Baseball is a sport that is unique in its opportunity to enable youth in individual growth and success while operating in a team environment. Each year Chilliwack Minor Baseball has approximately 450 youth participating in the association ranging in age from 5 to 18 years of age. Coaching development is critical to the success of the Association. Each year, Chilliwack Minor Baseball offers the opportunity for present and future coaches within the local area to receive certification with the National Coaches Certification Program at no cost. This ensures the youth are afforded every opportunity for growth both within the sport and in life by providing youth with certified and dedicated mentors. It takes over 60 volunteer coaches per season to enrich the lives of youth. Volunteers are also an integral component to the Chilliwack Minor Baseball Association. Whether it is a menber of the Executive, organizers for a baseball tournament, or managing a team, volunteers are critical to the success of the Association. In 2003, Chilliwack Minor Baseball was voted Association of the year by Baseball B.C. for its ttremendous contribution to the youth within the Chilliwack Community. The Association has also supported the international community by providing used equipment to under-privileged youth in the Dominican Republic. Each year Chilliwack Minor Baseball coordinates a trip to a Seattle Mariners Baseball game. Last season (2004) over 300 local area parents and youth took advantage of this opportunity. Good luck to all in the upcoming season and for further information regarding the 2005 season, please visit out wesite at www.chilliwackminorbaseball.com or you may contact the President at (604)858-7757.
